Rick and Morty is gearing up for the fifth season, which is set to feature some A-list celebrities as guest stars. In past seasons, the show has had no problem attracting elite stars to play odd side roles.

Most notably, Elon Musk and comedian John Oliver have made a surprise appearance. Rick and Morty seems to be a magnet not only for fans but for household names as well. The series has a way of keeping its audience on their toes and breaking expectations when it comes to guest appearances. The unmatched level of creativity and sarcastic humor that the show possesses leaves room for virtually any star to stumble naturally into the many interdimensional adventures.

Rick and Morty season 5 is no different, in fact, the line-up of stars that have been confirmed seems to somehow surpass previous guests. Cast member Spencer Grammer was the one to reveal the names of celebrities who will be guest-starring in season 5. Among them is actor Timothy Olyphant, who is most popular for his roles in Justified and season 2 of The Mandalorian. The Matrix 4 cast member Christina Ricci will be surfacing as well.

The creator of the show, Dan Harmon, has also affirmed that there will be a crossover with his beloved series Community. Actress Alison Brie will act as the bridge between Harmon’s creations when she makes her appearance in season 5. Previously adored guest stars who have been featured in more prominent side roles on the show will also be making a comeback. Actress Susan Sarandon will be returning to her role as a therapist, Dr. Wong.

It’s still unknown as to just how these impressive guest stars will be fitting into the series or what roles and physical shape they will embody on screen. Not only can fans look forward to seeing just how these iconic stars will fit into the Rick and Morty universe, but a potential film may be in the distant future as well. Writer and producer of the series Scott Marder stated in an interview that he does think it will come to fruition one day. Seeing how many seasons Rick and Morty has been running and the iconic list of guest stars that it draws in - a future Rick and Morty movie at some point is inevitable.

The guest stars who have made an appearance in previous seasons seem arguably out of Rick and Morty's league. Over the course of the show's run, it appears the adult swim series is so irresistibly funny that even stars outside the realm of acting have made their way to the series as well.

Rick and Morty season 5 premieres on Adult Swim on June 20th, 2021.
