Rick and Morty season 6 premiered on Adult Swim this past weekend and the trailer for the series’ next episode promises to deliver on the promise of Summer going full-on Die Hard.

The teaser was posted on Swimpedia's Twitter account (@swimpedia) to promote the episode “Rick: A Mort Well Lived," which will premiere in the show’s usual time slot on Adult Swim. The “Die Hard” joke was featured in the Rick and Morty season 6 trailer last month, with showrunners Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland using it as an example of how they come up with ideas for the series.

Naturally, Summer's own lack of familiarity with John McClane's adventures is one of the main puns in this entry. In the clip, the teenager laments Rick's orders of having her crawl through vents and “do a Die Hard” before all hell breaks loose and the action unfolds in a very Die Hard type of way. Keeping up with classic Rick and Morty humor, Summer then crushes her alien enemy after falling and tastes a disgusting but delicious mess of alien bodily parts and fluids.

This episode seems to be connected to season 2's “Mortynight Run,” as Summer's mission takes her to the Blips and Chitz arcade. This is where Morty famously played the “Roy: A Life Well Live,” to which the next entry’s title obviously refers to. The Rick and Morty season 6 premiere delivered for fans, with the series making savvy connections all the way back to its pilot episode and the first two seasons as the series gives further depth to Rick's backstory.

Even more so, Rick and Morty's new season seems to have given the smartest man in the universe a powerful foe to go up against this year, as his Rick Prime looks bound for multiple appearances. In Summer's case, the Die Hard narrative will only boost her growing role in the show since Rick took her under his wing, as even she referred to her action hero credentials besting Morty's in “Solaricks.”

For many, the episode could also act as a fitting tribute to Bruce Willis' film legacy, now retired due to his declining health but who last reprised his Die Hard role in a 2020 commercial. No word yet on whether this Rick and Morty episode can be considered Christmas-themed.

Rick and Morty season 6 airs on Sundays at 11:00 PM EST on Adult Swim.
