Returnal players don't often agree on which boss is the hardest or even which biome is more difficult, but most players unite in their hatred for the drones from the Derelict Citadel. These are small flying enemies. making them difficult to reach, and they have a variety of attacks that can all cause major headaches. Unfortunately, players will need to brave this place at least one more time if they want to see the secret ending and make sense of Act 2's confusing ending. Just like everything else in the game, though, this is no easy task. Players will first need to collect six Sunface Fragments, one from each biome, and then revisit Selene's house one last time before defeating the final boss once again to see the secret ending.

Before Returnal players start searching for these elusive Sunface Fragments, it's important to understand the requirements to make them spawn. The most important thing is that players need to have already beaten Act 2 once, but they also need to have seen all five house sequences as well. This is a minor spoiler, but players will know they've completed the last house sequence when they learn the truth about what caused Helios to crash.

Ironically, the Sunface Fragment in the Derelict Citadel is the easiest to find out of them all, but it's probably one of the hardest to get to. While some of the other fragments seem to be located near the beginning of the level, this one is found at the very end of Returnal's third biome, meaning players will need to fight their way all the way to the boss.

How to get secret ending part 3

Thankfully, getting this piece doesn't require the player to fight Nemesis again, as it is located just before him. Players will need the Hadal Ballasts, but if they are looking for these Sunface Fragments they should have them by now already. At the very end of the level after crossing the bridge and reaching the broadcast tower, there is a pool of water. Normally the player would simply grapple across this gap, but this time players should dive right in. Alongside some other useful items, the Sunface Fragment will be glowing blue by a deceased Scout corpse.

At this point, players should have all the Sunface Fragments from the first half of the game. Players that are missing the Crimson Wastes Sunface Fragment or the Overgrown Ruins Sunface Fragment should be sure to head back and get those. Since these items are permanent, the player will not lose them if they restart their run or die to Nemesis.

Returnal is available now on PS5.
