Sometimes some of the biggest news can be that there will be no news at all. Much like the news of Valve saying they would have no appointments at this year’s E3, Respawn Entertainment has said that they will not be announcing anything at this year’s show. They did say that they would be walking the floor though.

For those who may have forgotten, Respawn Entertainment was started by Vince Zampella and Jason West after they were forced out from Infinity Ward by Activision.

Several other former Infinity Ward employees then left and also joined Respawn. With Modern Warfare 3 all but certain to be shown and likely featured at one of the big three press conferences, gamers might have been hoping to see something from Respawn as well. Unfortunately, that does not appear to the case.

There is a chance, however, that this is all just some misdirection by Respawn and they will in fact show a game at some point during E3. That would certainly be a pretty big moment for either Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft if they were able to be the first to show footage. It was only a year ago that David Jaffe took to the internet to deny he was making a new Twisted Metal only to reveal the game during Sony’s 2010 E3 press conference. So stranger things have certainly happened.

Because games take a good while to develop and produce, and since the team at Respawn Entertainment is still relatively new–and dealing with a major lawsuit–it is probably safest to assume they were telling the truth when they said they would not be announcing anything at this year’s E3. Fans can still hold out some hope though.

What are your thoughts? Do you think something from Respawn Entertainment will make a surprise appearance at E3? When do you think we will hear about Respawn’s first game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
