Earlier this week, Resident Evil 8 details were allegedly leaked by Twitter account ChaoticClaire, including some rather surprising revelations about what the game would entail. According to the leak, Resident Evil 8 will feature werewolves and a witch that would pursue players in a manner not unlike Mr. X or Nemesis. Another leaker has since spoken out about these claims, offering a bit of clarification on the matter.

AestheticGamer is known for their accurate Resident Evil leaks, and they backed up the claims made by ChaoticClaire, but with a caveat. AestheticGamer believes that the version of Resident Evil 8 described by ChaoticClaire is the one that Capcom moved away from "about half a year ago." This isn't the first time that AestheticGamer has claimed that Resident Evil 8 restarted development. However, just because this werewolf game may not be released as Resident Evil 8, AestheticGamer believes that it still has a "high chance" of releasing under a different title.

AestheticGamer explained that there are some things about the Resident Evil werewolf game that has "connections" with some other game. AestheticGamer didn't elaborate on that front. However, if the Resident Evil werewolf game isn't RE8, perhaps it's safe to assume that it will be released as a spin-off game, as Capcom has been known to release many RE spin-offs over the years.

Previously, it's been claimed that by AestheticGamer that a new Resident Evil game will release in 2021, but that it wouldn't be RE8. Maybe this Resident Evil werewolf game is that 2021 game. Backing up the possibility of a new Resident Evil for next year is the fact that Capcom has been inviting members of the Resident Evil Ambassador Program to test a new game, which means that an announcement could be right around the corner.

Some rumors have suggested that the new Resident Evil could even be announced alongside the PlayStation 5 reveal, itself rumored for February or March. That remains to be seen, but we'll learn if there's any truth to those particular rumors once the PS5 is properly unveiled.

Resident Evil is easily one of Capcom's biggest franchises, and so it's a guarantee that more Resident Evil is on the way. Whether that comes in the form of Resident Evil 8, a werewolf/witch spin-off game, or something else entirely is still up in the air at this point.

A new Resident Evil game is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
