Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City is shaping up to be a faithful retelling of the first few mainline Resident Evil titles developed by Capcom's gaming studio. Now, a new clip from the upcoming film shows Kaya Scodelario's Claire Redfield coming face to face with a zombie threat.

Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City is being directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down & The Strangers: Prey at Night) and based on the trailers, it looks like Roberts is trying his best to keep the film as faithful as possible to the video games. The original Resident Evil movies were known for establishing their own unique storyline with a new character named Alice. Those movies ended up using characters from the video games but they didn't make them the primary focus, unlike Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.

After the new Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City clip debuted on Fandango's Twitter account, fans began dissecting it. The clip doesn't show too much, but what fans get to see is Claire Redfield investigating a room where a little child runs under a table. Claire then is attacked by an unknown figure, probably somebody who is affected by the virus, and tackled to the ground. The scene plays without a music score and instead uses the sound of glass breaking to create the effect of a jumpscare.

The Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City preview really sets the scene with the ominous dramatic lighting, which makes the setting feel dangerous. Right as the protagonist is attacked, fans know that the stakes are very high. This scene fits right in with the video game setting. The game raises anxiety for players because there's always death around every corner and health is always low.

Film adaptations of video games are becoming more frequent in Hollywood. Many people have become accustomed to comic book adaptations, and now it seems that video games are the next step.

Video game movies were almost always panned, with few exceptions, because of how little they resembled the source material. However, directors who grew up playing video games are now stepping into roles that give them creative control, meaning they will hopefully do these video games justice when adapting them for the silver screen.

Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City will be released on November 24th, 2021.
