The run-up to the launch of Resident Evil Village is coming with tons of information regarding what to expect while exploring the open world. Most notably, fans have been focused entirely on vampiric matriarch Lady Dimitrescu, although the game has already teased players with hints of three other foes of similar stature and the figure who rules them all, Mother Miranda. As a cult leader of sorts, she oversees the four "Lords" - the main villains of Resident Evil Village.

What's quickly becoming clear is that the area for players to explore in Resident Evil Village is far larger than originally anticipated. When navigating the world, there are four lairs in which each Lord resides, with Castle Dimitrescu already being known as one of them. Additionally, Resident Evil Village contains different enemy encounters, gameplay mechanics, and boss fights for players to tackle in each area. The Village will serve as the main hub, connecting all four locations.

Aside from the Lady Dimitrescu, players have gotten only brief glimpses of one of the Lords, Karl Heisenberg. Heisenberg is an engineer who lives in his family factory, wielding a giant iron hammer in one hand and a cigar in the other. Like Dimitrescu, his appearance was inspired by 1960s fashion, with sunglasses, a hat, and a leather jacket as part of his design. Some may find that the enigmatic gentleman is an analog of Van Helsing, a prominent character in the gothic horror novel Dracula.

Despite his familiar appearance, the villain is made known for his torturous tendencies early in Resident Evil Village. Interestingly, Heisenberg's factory appears to be more modernized in comparison to other areas in the village. What's even more notable is that the location is entirely void of any snow, due to what appears to be a lower altitude.

Next is Salvatore Moreau and his location, called "Moreau's Reservoir." The villain takes inspiration from mermen of gothic horror, looking much more like the typical Resident Evil monster and hiding most of his appearance with a long robe. His reservoir is also void of snow, being located near an outdated fishing village. The location has windmills for players to climb and observe the area and even teases the existence of a whale-like creature in the lake.

The last of the four Lords is Donna Beneviento. Although more humanoid than the previous Lord, everything about her is shrouded in mystery. Clad in an all-black, completely opaque widow's gown, the mysterious woman is only known to operate a puppet called Angie. The two are stationed at House Beneviento, located on the outskirts of the Village, and never receive any visitors. As hinted by Morimasa Sato, the house is in many ways an evolution of the horror elements used in Resident Evil 7 but, otherwise, there's no telling what to expect here.

Resident Evil Village will launch on May 7 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
