Ever since the character's reveal, Resident Evil Village's Lady Dimitrescu has been a popular icon amongst gamers and fans of the franchise. Even before the release of the game, Lady Dimitrescu became a breakout star whenever she showed up in a gameplay video or trailer for Resident Evil Village.
With the popularity of Lady Dimitrescu, many people wanted to learn about Resident Evil Village and especially about her. People wanted to know more about the new villainess, whether it was information on the correct pronunciation of Lady Dimitrescu's name or just the exact details about her height. Now more details have been revealed, though, not about the character but the model who portrayed her.
In a recent interview with Dexerto, Helena Mankowska, a Polish-born actress and the face model for Lady Dimitrescu, shared some details about how she landed the role for the character. She also shared some of her positive online experiences since the character's reveal. One detail which stood out was that she didn't play any previous entries in the Resident Evil franchise before the recent one.
During the interview, Mankowska said that she heard of the Resident Evil games before obtaining the role but never played them. She had played older games like the original Super Smash Bros. when she was younger but stayed away from Resident Evil games because she was afraid of horror. The interview mentions how she played the newest game in a live video on Instagram with her brother, Jacek. Mankowska said that the most exciting thing for her was seeing all the characters come to life, especially Lady Dimitrescu.
Mankowska also shared, "I always portrayed her as a mother more than a vampire," and she was also excited to see Lady Dimitrescu's vampiric daughters in the game as well. According to the interview, while playing through the game Mankowska was tearing with joy seeing the character fully realized, saying, "I didn’t expect it to be so emotional for me. Standing in front of it, just with all of the hype, felt big inside of me." In the Instagram video, Mankowska was so excited that she even wore the character's hat for a little bit when Lady Dimitrescu first appears.
Later in the interview, Mankowska also shared her reaction to the online response to Lady Dimitrescu from the Resident Evil community. She expressed her happiness in becoming a part of the community, describing it as being welcomed into a new family. One that's full of people with many talents in drawing, writing, painting, and more. According to the interview, the release of Resident Evil Village had opened a new pathway for Mankowska and she's very enthusiastic for more work in the gaming industry.
