Since its launch back in early 2021, Resident Evil Village has cultivated a massive amount of success. With gameplay and level design heavily inspired by Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Village is the first mainline Resident Evil title to release in five years. Now, after over a year, Capcom is almost ready to release new content for Resident Evil Village, just in time for Halloween.

For many fans of the Resident Evil series, one of the standout qualities of Resident Evil 7 was the plethora of DLC campaigns and other content that was subsequently released after the game's initial launch. For the longest time, many fans had speculated if Resident Evil Village would receive the same treatment. It has since been confirmed that Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will release on October 28th, 2022.

During the recent Capcom Showcase, fans received a multitude of new looks at games from the developer, including a look at the content that would be included in Resident Evil Village Gold Edition. This includes a new DLC campaign called Shadows of Rose, where players will get to continue the main story as Ethan Winters' daughter.

In addition, The Mercenaries mode will be receiving new playable characters, such as Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg, and fan-favorite Lady Dimitrescu. Lastly, players will be able to experience Resident Evil Village from a third-person perspective, similar to the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3. This will potentially flesh out Ethan's personality even more and provide players an alternative form of gameplay, should they prefer the over-the-shoulder camera setup from the remakes.

Of everything that was announced during the Capcom Showcase, this will be sure to excite plenty of Resident Evil fans. The ending of Resident Evil Village presented an ambiguous direction for the series going forward, with Chris Redfield assumedly training Rose Winters on how to handle her abilities, but it didn't leave too much to speculate on in terms of what could happen next.

With any luck, Shadows of Rows will help to give players a look at what's to come for Resident Evil. Based on what was shown in the trailer, it seems like players will be returning to the main area, and the Duke, who once served as an ally to players, apparently seems to be the main antagonist of this campaign. In any case, Capcom will likely reveal more information about Resident Evil Village Gold Edition in the coming months.

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition will release on October 28th, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
