Being the most recent one in the series, Resident Evil Village is currently one of the most popular horror games in the AAA scene. With Capcom recently announcing that the Resident Evil Village Winters' Expansion is coming this October, players will have even more content for this eighth installment in one of the most influential survival horror series ever released. There will be plenty more for fans to sink their teeth into, and a recent trailer shows some gameplay footage from the expansion to the game's Mercenaries mode, which includes perspectives from other playable characters.

The brief Resident Evil Village teaser was released by the studio earlier today, showing what can be expected in the upcoming DLC. The footage includes what the game will look and play like from the perspective of Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg, and everyone's current favorite, Lady Dimitrescu. It gives a very quick flavor of what each character will be capable of, such as Heisenberg using his hammer and Lady D utilizing her infamous razorlike claws.

While the former human-cum-mutant Heisenberg is a newcomer to the series, Chris Redfield has pretty much been a staple since the first game released way back in 1996. Then of course there is Lady Dimitrescu who is one of the most popular Resident Evil characters to date. Despite her being a vicious matriarchal antagonist, fans became infatuated with her looks when she was featured during Village's marketing campaign. The trailer makes it seem like the DLC will offer up plenty of new content, and no doubt fans will be looking forward to taking control of these three characters.

Mercenaries mode has been a key part of Resident Evil, with the game's Wiki page tracing its origins back to 1999's RE3: Nemesis. While each iteration can differ slightly, the basic premise centers around getting high scores by killing as many enemies as possible within a certain time limit. This latest DLC is actually an expansion of the Mercenaries mode within Resident Evil Village, which is called "The Mercenaries Additional Orders."

As one of the scariest Resident Evil games ever made, the eighth entry continues on from from Resident Evil 7's reboot of the franchise in 2017, which saw the series adopt a first-person perspective, more realistic visuals, and basically took things back to its horror roots. The upcoming Winters' Expansion seems to be jam-packed with new things, such as the anticipated "Shadows of Rose" DLC, the implementation of a third-person mode, as well as the aforementioned "Additional Orders" expansion.

Resident Evil Village is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
