Resident Evil Village is one of the most triple-a-looking games releasing this year, being one of the first titles to adopt truly next-gen looking graphics on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Following the Resident Evil Anniversary Showcase that took place a few days ago, Capcom announced that a demo would be launching on multiple platforms in the coming weeks, with PlayStation players being the first to give it a try. Reactions to the latest demo are now coming in.

Over on Twitter, Resident Evil Village fans are posting their thoughts on the demo, which offered a 30-minute slice of the game for players to explore. The demo, which was only available for an 8-hour period yesterday, featured part of a graveyard, some of the villagers, and a few of the new enemies players will be facing off against in the final game. If the conversation so far is any indication, players are loving what they saw.

Reactions to the demo began flooding in shortly after it went live, with fans praising everything from the visual fidelity to the acting featured within it. Village boasts a strong resemblance to Resident Evil 4largely because it also features a haunting European village, and the nostalgia rush seems to be pleasing many longtime fans of the franchise. It's hard to say if that will push it to higher sales numbers than Resident Evil 7 accomplished, but excitement for the project does seem to be high.

The road to the demo has been a little bit confusing, largely due to how it's being parted out. The 30-minute Resident Evil Village demo that just launched is only half of a longer demo, with a second section being made available to PlayStation players in a week. After that, an hour-long combination of both demos will launch for fans on all platforms, opening the floodgates for even more opinions on the game's early hours.

With an even broader audience being granted access to the demo soon, and Resident Evil Village's release only a few weeks off, excitement for the game is reaching a fever pitch. While the consensus generally seems to be positive, fans will have to wait to see how the final version of the game pans out. Capcom has pulled a 180-degree turn with some of the recent entries in the franchise, following the action-heavy releases of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. So far, though, the return to the franchise's horror roots has been going swimmingly.

Resident Evil Village is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
