It's been over a month since the Resident Evil 2 remake released on consoles and PC, but there appears to be no end in sight to the relentless flow of player-created mods, which largely focus on adding an element of silliness to the otherwise terrifying and suspenseful experience. Most recently, a modder was able to transform the terrifying tyrant, Mr. X into Thomas The Tank Engine and now a Resident Evil 2 mod is making the rounds that just may be the most ridiculous yet.

The latest fan-made creation to come out of the Resident Evil 2 modding community turns all of the game's zombies into giant servings of tofu. Creator Snipz says his latest Resident Evil 2 mod pays tribute to the tofu mode from 2009's Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, however the tofu character originally appeared in the “The Tofu Survivor” scenario from the original 1998 Resident Evil 2. The mod is now available for download via Nexus.

The abundance of user-created mods is likely a blessing to Resident Evil 2 fans running short on new ways to experience the game after completing its two main campaigns and DLC. Another popular mod to emerge within the last week takes a more subtle approach compared to the tofu mod, adding vocal expressions of frustration to Claire Redfield every time she downs a zombie. This one seemed to be a nod to a common complaint that zombies can sometimes take an absurd amount of shots before collapsing and finally dying.

Mr. X from Resident Evil 2

As many likely suspect, the good-humored nature of these Resident Evil 2 mods is likely intended to alleviate some of the dread that comes with playing such a tense, unforgiving game. Most notably, the imposing Mr. X tyrant has been the subject of numerous mods that lessen the nerve-shattering impact of his looming presence.

Speaking of Mr. X, Resident Evil 2 isn't the only game where players might come face to face with the seemingly unstoppable tyrant. Recently, Mr. X was featured in PUBG Mobile as part of a crossover event with Resident Evil 2.

Resident Evil 2 is out now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
