Resident Evil The Mercenaries 3D Trailer

There has been a lot of Resident Evil news out in the gaming world lately, including the Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City teaser trailer and information about Resident Evil Revival Selection. Now with the super recent release of the Nintendo 3DS, there is one more platform for the series to expand its brand upon, which it will be doing with not one, but two games.

Capcom has just released a trailer for the first of those games, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. The new trailer features one of the game's heroines, Jill Valentine, and the series' main antagonist, Albert Wesker.

The trailer shows off the two characters, roaming and killing zombies throughout various levels from Resident Evil 4 and 5. Jill is in her BSAA outfit, and Wesker is rocking his all black leather Matrix-ish wardrobe. For those who may be unaware, Mercenaries is typically the bonus mode unlocked in Resident Evil games once you finish the main storyline. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D spins the mode off into a game of its own.

As you may have noticed, this is the first game in the series that gives players the ability to simultaneously run and shoot. The lack of that mechanic has been a major complaint about the series from many players for years now. Now, there will be no more deciding on whether to run from your enemy or to stand and engage them face to face. Hopefully, the new running and shooting mechanic will get transfered to the future console version of the next Resident Evil. Let's not forget, this version of Mercenaries will also be in 3D. Otherwise, not much has seemed to change since the console versions of the mini-game.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is set to release for the Nintendo 3DS on July 6, 2011.
