The Resident Evil brand is one of the most recognized in gaming, being the first title people think of when it comes to survival horror. Each game has built an intriguing and often times confusing storyline, while including all the scares people expect. It's not uncommon for the older titles in the series to be re-released or remade for more recent systems, and that trend looks to continue with the announcement of Resident Evil Revival Selection.
The game, set to release for both the Xbox 360 and PS3, will feature two titles from Resident Evil's history: Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil 4. Both games will be remastered in HD to meet with the 360 and PS3's standards, and it has been hinted that Revival Selection will contain additional features. Resident Evil 4 in Revival Selection will include Ada Wong's The Another Order scenario from the Wii re-release, for example.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica was originally released for the Sega Dreamcast back in 2000, and focused on one of the protagonists from Resident Evil 2, Claire Redfield, as she searched for her missing brother, Chris. The search eventually led her to Rockfort Island, where she met up with Steve Burnside and battled the siblings Alfred and Alexia Ashford after yet another T-Virus outbreak.
Resident Evil 4 was released for the Nintendo GameCube back in 2005, and focused on the other protagonist from RE2, Leon Kennedy. He's recruited by the U.S. Secret Service to locate the president's daughter, Ashley, from a cult in Europe who are infected with some strange parasites known as Las Plagas. He eventually gets tangled up in the cult's plans and meets up with fellow RE2 character Ada Wong. The game is often considered to be the best in the franchise due to its reinvention of the game play into a more horror-action over-the-shoulder shooter.
Little information beyond the title's existence has been revealed, so keep your eyes and ears open for further news.
