Capcom was recently hit with a huge ransomware cyberattack that leaked the personal data of its employees and also the roadmap for its upcoming games. The list also contained multiple new Resident Evil games that are currently in development, thereby confirming Capcom's plans to make this an annual franchise. While the names of the titles in the aforementioned list are mostly codenames that don't explain whether they are part of the mainline series or a spinoff, a new report suggests that one of these games, codenamed as Resident Evil Outrage, is actually Resident Evil Revelations 3.

The list contains a total of four Resident Evil games that are supposedly releasing over the next four years: Resident Evil Outrage, Biohazard Apocalypse, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Resident Evil Hank. As of now, Capcom has only confirmed Resident Evil 8 for early 2021, whereas Resident Evil Outrage is allegedly releasing in Q4 2021.

According to popular Resident Evil Insider Dusk Golem, Resident Evil Outrage is seemingly Resident Evil Revelations 3, whose lead platform of development is Nintendo Switch. "I think long-term people believing there's an Outbreak 3 and it not existing may hurt more than help, but I also got 100% confirmation Outrage is RE switch. It may not be called Rev 3 when it releases, but it is for all intents and purposes, and it's the Switch-focused RE game (not Switch exclusive though, it's coming to everything, Switch was the lead platform though). I know you know this, just decided & think it's coming out to the public anyways," he says on a ResetEra column.

Golem, who seems very confident at this point, has correctly predicted the existence of a multitude of Capcom titles including Resident Evil 8 and Monster Hunter Rise. Earlier this year, Golem also stated that the development of Resident Evil 8 started off as Resident Evil Revelations 3, which somehow explains the game's surprise change of tone.

He also went on to reveal that the game is actually a cross-generation title that will be available on current and last-gen platforms. Later, Capcom confirmed that they are planning to bring Resident Evil 8 on current-gen platforms, seemingly adding more credence to Dusk Golem's info.

While all of this should be taken with a grain of salt, it would be interesting to see how Resident Evil Revelations 3 on Switch looks amidst all the other next-gen Capcom titles. Although not as popular as the mainline entries, the Revelations games have always been surprising. Its episodic nature, the addition of two different concurrent storylines, and a profound focus on horror elements gave it a distinct flair. Moreover, a focus on non-canon characters was also appealing to many.

Resident Evil Outrage is rumored to be releasing in Q4 2021.
