Capcom officially announces the start date for the Resident Evil Resistance open beta. Fans will be able to enjoy the asymmetrical multiplayer gameplay just over a week after Capcom releases the Resident Evil 3 remake demo, which is for the single player story.

It has been officially confirmed that the Resident Evil Resistance open beta will be open from March 27, 2020. The full version of the Resident Evil 3 remake, with Resident Evil Resistance, will be available on April 3, which is just a week later. This should give fans a good amount of time to see how they feel about the online multiplayer and if they should get the full game to play it.

However, it doesn't give Capcom much time to release any bug fixes if players have issue with the beta. There are rumors that Resident Evil Resistance will have loot boxes and, as these have been controversial in other games before, could be one area that Capcom has to try and quickly fix or change before release.

RE Resistance

It's unclear what the Resident Evil Resistance open beta will offer. Capcom has confirmed several playable characters for the full version, such as meme survivor character Martin Sandwich but it hasn't said which characters will be available in the beta.

Getting to play as all of the announced characters in the beta will give fans some good ideas of how to really take on survivors and masterminds when the full version is released. Capcom has teased the different ways that survivor skills can be used and how masterminds can make things difficult for survivors, and this will be the first time that most fans have been able to see how that works. There's no suggestion that Resident Evil Resistance will have some sort of competitive esports scene, but it would help any fans who plans to take the multiplayer mode seriously.

Another thing that Capcom hasn't confirmed about Resident Evil Resistance is how or if it will add new characters and maps to the game. It has confirmed several Resident Evil Resistance maps such as Casino and Abandoned Park. These maps do look like fun to fight in but many fans want to know if more will be released.

Capcom hasn't answered all of the fan questions with this announcement but many will be happy that they are getting to play Resident Evil Resistance before release. It may not offer the same jump scares as a Resident Evil story, but fans can see if that stops it from being scarily entertaining.

Resident Evil 3 will launch on April 3, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
