Capcom reveals two new playable masterminds and two new maps for Resident Evil Resistance. Resident Evil Resistance is the online multiplayer mode that will be releasing with the Resident Evil 3 remake in April.

In a press release, Capcom confirmed that Alex Wesker and Ozwell Spencer will be some of the playable characters in Resident Evil Resistance. Wesker, who was an antagonist in Resident Evil Revelations 2, likes using traps and a carnivorous plant called Yateveo to stop survivors. Spencer likes to use technology such as the Disintegration Field which will deal damage to survivors who walk through it. Those are two very different gameplay styles but it sounds like players controlling survivors such as Martin Sandwich will find it difficult to beat them.

The two new confirmed maps for Resident Evil Resistance are Casino and Abandoned Park. The Casino map is just a casino with none of the fun as it was quickly abandoned when zombies took over Raccoon City. Capcom says that there will be slot machines and chips all over the floor, but it hasn't provided any more information about the map than that. The Abandoned Park is a horror-themed park, says Capcom, which suggests that survivors could find themselves being tricked by fake park horrors and real enemies created by the mastermind.

Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Resistance will have multiple maps. Raccoon City has more than a few locations that would make for great maps in Resident Evil Resistance such as the Raccoon Dam, Warren Stadium, and Raccoon Forest. No DLC plan for the multiplayer mode has been announced but Capcom could potentially turn these into maps and release them after it has launched.

It has also been confirmed that Resident Evil Resistance isn't canon, so fans playing the mode for hints at how Wesker and Spencer could affect Resident Evil 8's story are going to be disappointed. Their gameplay does seem to go well with their personalities, but fans shouldn't need to read into it any more than that.

However, there are rumors that Capcom is developing another non-canon Resident Evil game and the leaked Netflix series is also likely to do its own thing. It's unclear if Wesker or Spencer could star in the non-canon game or the Netflix TV series but fans will have some good fun fighting survivors as them in Resident Evil Resistance.

Resident Evil 3 will launch on April 3, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
