Capcom's E3 presentation began with the studio thanking fans for the warm reception received by Resident Evil Village, which recently broke sales records for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Resident Evil Village producer Tsuyoshi Kanda then reveals that its online multiplayer title, Resident Evil Re: Verse, will go live in July across all supported platforms.

It is worth remembering that Resident Evil Re: Verse was supposed to release alongside Resident Evil Village last month but was delayed to Summer of 2021. Although Capcom didn't specify when exactly next month Resident Evil Re: Verse is launching, fans can now rest easy that the multiplayer game is just around the corner. Additionally, Kanda reminded players that everyone who owns Village would get free access to Re: Verse.

For the uninitiated, Resident Evil Re: Verse was first announced at Capcom's showcase event early this year in celebration of the Resident Evil franchise's 25th anniversary. The game pits four to six players in a round of deathmatch battles, and players can play as their favorite Resident Evil characters. So far, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Leon Kennedy were confirmed by Capcom. Once players are taken out, their body mutates into a powerful bioweapon, allowing players to resurrect and exact revenge on those who killed them. So far, iconic villains from the franchise were spotted in the trailer, including Nemesis, Tyrant, and Jack Baker.

Several months ago, Capcom ran multiple public beta tests for Resident Evil Re: Verse, and the first one in early April was immediately shut down just hours after going live. Capcom explained that Re: Verse encountered major errors in matchmaking, and the second and third beta tests also highlighted the same issues. While Capcom didn't directly say that the results of the beta test were the cause of Re: Verse's delay, it is likely that the studio decided to postpone the launch to iron out bugs and refine gameplay mechanics.

In other Resident Evil news at E3 2021, Capcom also confirmed that Resident Evil Village would receive a DLC expansion in the future. Unfortunately, the studio did not specify when players should expect to see the DLC, nor did it share any information on what the expansion will explore. The only thing Capcom did mention about Resident Evil Village's DLC at its E3 2021 is that the development for it has just started due to popular demand and that more information will be shared at a later date.

Resident Evil Re: Verse is launching in July 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
