Are you feeling the Resident Evil fever? Don't worry, you're not transforming into a zombie, you're just drowning in Capcom RE media. In addition to the upcoming Nintendo 3DS releases, Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D and Resident Evil: Revelations, we have the series' next big home console title: Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.

Announced only a few weeks ago, the first Operation Raccoon City trailer was shockingly disappointing and visually ugly. Fortunately, Capcom changed our perspective with the release of new screenshots yesterday and today, we have a new and improved trailer as well.

With three newly announced games in the franchise, many fans are still waiting to hear about Resident Evil 6. Perhaps that's something that will be announced at E3 2011 in June but for now, we have plenty of other games to be excited about. Operation Raccoon City is not your standard Resident Evil game. In fact, it's barely a horror game, relatively speaking. Instead, this next console shooter will be an action-oriented four player co-op game that will appeal to those who loved the co-op action elements of Resident Evil 5. My theory is that this spin-off was created to appeal to those fans and open the franchise up to a larger audience, allowing the core numbered franchise to return to its horror roots in RE6.

Regardless, a new trailer for Operation Raccoon City has emerged. Check it out.

The trailer confirms the third-person play style and its rather similar to RE5, except with four players working together instead of two. The graphics look a lot better than first hinted at in the earlier trailer, so good on Slant Six Games.

Take note of the characters and their abilities showcased in the trailer. Operation Raccoon City will let players pick from four classes, with nine abilities each: Vector, Spectre, Bertha and Beltway. You can see from the video that Vector is a stealthy assassin type who can cloak, Bertha is the medic, Beltway is the tank and Spectre is the tech dude who has gadgets that let him see through walls.

Ready to go back to 1998 and change Resident Evil history with your friends?

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be released this winter for the  PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
