See how the disaster unfolded when fans of the Resident Evil series switch sides and play for Umbrella in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. In this new trailer, two worlds collide when the US Government Spec Ops Squad meet the Umbrella Secret Service team.

The story behind Operation Raccoon City takes players back to the very beginning of the series, September 1998 in Raccoon City. The Umbrella Corporation has sent an elite team of their finest, the U.S.S., to cover up the incident that is widely known as one of the greatest zombie outbreaks in video game history.

The "Spec Ops vs U.S.S." trailer offers a close-up look at gameplay with the six main characters of the Umbrella Secret Service: Lupo the assault expert, Vector the highly trained recon and camouflage specialist, Bertha the medic, Spectre the surveillance sniper, Four Eyes the field scientist, and Beltway the demolitions expert. Each with their own set of skills, gamers are able to upgrade each character as they progress through the story.

Of course the U.S.S. wouldn't have the easy task of getting in-and-out of Raccoon City without running into a few speed bumps. That's where the US Government Spec Ops team comes in where the same gameplay rules apply. Each member of the Spec Ops team comes with their own abilities: Dee-Ay (assault), Willow (recon), Harley (medic), Party Girl (surveillance), Shona (field scientist), and Tweed (demolitions).

This won't be just any old Resident Evil game and it's not just because of the game's different story and ability to alter franchise history. Operation Raccoon City moves the series into the action-shooter genre with Capcom aiming to attract Call of Duty fans in their upcoming console releases (which now also includes Resident Evil 6).

It wasn't revealed until recently that the Operation Raccoon City multiplayer modes would allow gamers to take charge of the Spec Ops team and not just the U.S.S. in three online co-op modes. The US Spec Ops had a great deal of screen time on the "Triple Impact" trailer, which begged the question as to this answer.

Anyone interested in seeing more gameplay footage can check out the first 10 minutes of Operation Raccoon City gameplay as well as some great footage of a famous B.O.W. known as Nemesis.

Ranters, which team would you rather play as Umbrella or the Spec Ops?

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City will be available for the PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 20th in North America with a PC version to follow.
