Earlier in the month, it was reported that Japanese members of Capcom's Resident Evil Ambassador program (an official fan group that get to take part in special events and campaigns for the series) would be invited to test out a secret, new game in early September. Now, news has broken that the same thing will be happening in America.

One Patrick Copeland, a Twitch affiliate and streamer, posted an image on Twitter this morning of a letter they received inviting "potential testers" to try what is presumably a new Resident Evil game that is in development. Unlike in Japan, the event will be taking place in late September in two different cities - Los Angeles and New York. However, only a select number of members of the program will be invited to the event and they will not be compensated for their time, meaning anyone who wants to play this mysterious new game will need to pay for their own travel.

There have been rumors of a new Resident Evil being in the works for some time now. In fact, the popular theory is that Capcom are working on a full-fledged remaster of Resident Evil 3 - the game that introduced the iconic Nemesis - due to its popularity and how well received the Resident Evil 2 remake was. We do know that Capcom plans on making an announcement at this year's Gamescom, during an Opening Night Live event hosted by Geoff Keighly, on August 19th. However, there is no proof that its announcement will be Resident Evil related. In fact, if this secret game for ambassadors is the Resident Evil 3 remake, why would it be announced beforehand at Gamescom and spoil the surprise? Or maybe the secret game is something else entirely, like Resident Evil 8 or a new spin-off? At this point, we can only speculate.

In related news, fans can also look forward to the eventual Netflix series, which was announced earlier this year and will "deepen the existing mythology" of the series. Considering how successful Netflix's Castlevania show was, there is hope that this Resident Evil one will receive a similar treatment.

The Resident Evil test event is scheduled to take place on September 20th or 21st in Los Angeles and September 23rd or 24th in New York.
