While Capcom is still yet to reveal the next entry in the Resident Evil video game franchise, it appears that the game's counterparts in film and television are already cooking something up. Earlier this year, news broke out that streaming giant Netflix is making a TV adaptation of the survival-horror franchise. Not much is currently known about the upcoming Netflix adaptation apart from a few details such as the upcoming show's general premise. Media outlet Deadline previously reported that the Netflix series will focus on expanding Resident Evil's existing lore, set in a world that is ravaged by the T-virus infection.

However, it appears that the Netflix series is not the only adaptation headed for Resident Evil. Yesterday, 47 Meters Down director, Johannes Roberts told Screen Rant that a film reboot for Resident Evil is currently in active development. While important details such as casting and release date were not revealed, Roberts promised that the upcoming reboot will get "back to the roots of the game." Of course, it is pretty exciting how both the film and tv adaptations of Capcom's classic survival-horror game would turn out. However, the biggest question that comes to mind is will these adaptations feature any of the game's characters?

No one really knows the answer to that question given that both projects are still in its early stages of development. However, if the Netflix series or the film reboot decides to cast game characters, it is interesting to see which actors will be chosen to bring these iconic characters to life. Regardless, here is our list of the perfect actor for every Resident Evil character.

8 Scott Eastwood as Chris Redfield

Chris Redfield is one of the first playable characters in Resident Evil, which will definitely put a tremendous amount of pressure to whoever plays him in the Netflix adaptation, or the film reboot. Throughout the series, Chris is known as a skilled marksman, a reliable partner, and a person who values loyalty above all else. While it wasn't easy choosing the perfect actor to give justice to the part, we believe that actor Scott Eastwood, known for his action movie roles in Suicide Squad and Pacific Rim: Uprising, is a strong contender to play Resident Evil's main protagonist.

7 Julia Voth as Jill Valentine

To many fans of the Resident Evil games, Julia Voth is the face of Jill Valentine. Back in 2001, Capcom modeled Jill Valentine's appearance after Voth for the remake of the first Resident Evil. While her acting portfolio is limited, her short role in 2012's Project S.E.R.A. showed her ability to portray a badass heroine that knows her way around guns. Moreover, her history with Resident Evil and her personal enthusiasm for the character makes her the perfect actor to bring Jill Valentine to life.

6 Jensen Ackles as Leon S. Kennedy

Jensen Ackles stars in the long-running TV show Supernatural,  making him a veteran actor in Hollywood. His long stint in the dark fantasy genre makes him an obvious choice to play one of Resident Evil's most beloved character. Of course, scheduling conflicts may arise given that Supernatural is still ongoing. However, given that the show is airing its final season next year, Netflix's Resident Evil may just be the perfect next project for the actor.

5 Alicia Vikander as Claire Redfield

Known for her portrayal of the legendary Lara Croft in 2018's Tomb Raider, Alicia Vikander is no stranger to video game adaptations. After taking over the reins from Angelina Jolie, Vikander proved that she is capable of bringing a strong-willed and intelligent character to life, which are traits that are also found in Resident Evil's Claire Redfield. After arriving in Raccoon City in search of her brother Chris, Claire teamed up with rookie cop Leon and became one of the rare survivors of the city's destruction.

4 Michael Fassbender as Albert Wesker

Casting the role of Albert Wesker is probably one of the most crucial decisions both Netflix and the film reboot has to make. In the video game franchise, Wesker is known as the cunning and calculating villain who will do everything in his power to achieve global domination. Given Michael Fassbender's outstanding performances in various films that earned him two Oscar nominations, we couldn't think of a better actor to play Resident Evil's most iconic villain.

3 JuJu Chan as Ada Wong

Another prominent villain in the list is Ada Wong. First introduced in Resident Evil 2, Ada is the mysterious survivor encountered by Leon and was then revealed to be an agent tasked to find a sample of the G-Virus. Ada is also a trained assassin, which is why we believe Chinese-American actor Juju Chan would be perfect for the role. Her experience in various action movies and her impressive skills as a martial artist are just some factors that make Chan the perfect actor to bring Ada Wong to life.

2 David Harbour as Barry Burton

Apart from the obvious physical similarities, David Harbour's stint in Netflix's Stranger Things puts him as our top choice to play Barry Burton. To be honest, it is not that hard to imagine David Harbour cracking Barry's infamous Jill sandwich joke. However, one thing that may prevent him from landing the role is his busy schedule with Stranger Things and filming the upcoming Black Widow movie.

1 Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson as Mr. X

While we tried to stay with Resident Evil's human characters, we couldn't help but put the terrifying Mr. X in the list. Given that Mr. X is the most human-looking among all tyrants, we believe that actor Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who famously portrayed The Mountain in HBO's Game of Thrones, would be perfect for the role. On top of that, his massive figure is imposing enough that it would probably not require Netflix to use CGI effects to achieve the tyrant's menacing look.
