The upcoming Resident Evil movie reboot is aiming to tell a story more closely-aligned with the video games, as opposed to the over-the-top, action movie approach taken by the previous series of live-action films. Production on the new Resident Evil live-action movie is well underway, with a planned theatrical release of 2021, though many details about the plot and characters remain under wraps. However, we may now know of at least one monster that will be featured in the movie.

Actress Marina Mazepa has been confirmed for the Resident Evil movie reboot, and while her role has not been officially announced, it's believed that she will be playing none other than Lisa Trevor. As pointed out by AestheticGamer on Twitter, a recent video of Mazepa shows her practicing stunts with her hands tied together, similarly to how Lisa Trevor looks in the Resident Evil remake game. Mazepa is also known for her skills as a contortionist, which should definitely come in handy with the Lisa Trevor role, assuming that is indeed who she is playing in the movie reboot.

For the uninitiated, the story of Lisa Trevor is one of the most tragic in all of Resident Evil. Her father helped construct the mansion from the original Resident Evil game, and she was abducted by the Umbrella Corporation so the company could conduct human experiments. Lisa was abused by Umbrella for years, twisting her into a deformed but incredibly powerful monster who is able to toss grown adults around like it's nothing.

What's interesting about this development is that Lisa Trevor was not in the original Resident Evil video game. She first appeared in the Resident Evil remake, so it seems as though the Resident Evil movie reboot will be taking inspiration from numerous sources. With characters like Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield confirmed for the Resident Evil movie reboot as well, it seems as though the film will focus on both the original Resident Evil as well as Resident Evil 2.

Nothing about the mansion has been shown or revealed by the filmmakers so far, so maybe Lisa Trevor will somehow appear in Raccoon City itself. That's just speculation at this time, though, as some of the more specific plot details about the Resident Evil movie still have yet to be revealed. With the Resident Evil movie reboot aiming for a 2021 theatrical release, though, more information should come to light in the months ahead.

Resident Evil will premiere in theaters in 2021.
