For many, the grotesque is what keeps them away from the horror genre, while others are drawn to horror specifically for the grotesque. For those that enjoy the creepy monsters that dominate the horror scene, Resident Evil will soon be releasing a detailed bust of the iconic Licker enemy. Unfortunately, that statue also comes with a steep enough price tag to deter even some of the most loyal Resident Evil fans out there.

The Licker bust certainly isn't for the faint of heart. It's a 1/1 scale model of the real deal from the games, or at least the upper body of the creature. The statue seems to be based on the Resident Evil 2 depiction of the Licker, with its exposed brain and tongue angling out in a highly unsettling way. Those interested in the Licker statue be warned, though, as it carries a price tag of $899.

The Resident Evil 2 Licker statue comes from PureArts, which has released a number of highly detailed busts in the past. Few can stand toe-to-toe with the Licker in terms of creepiness, but the company's website also features offerings from franchises like Assassin's Creed, Cyberpunk 2077and Dark Souls, among others. However, while the Licker statue is available for purchase now, it appears that it won't be shipping until Q2 2022.

Those that aren't deterred by the price tag or shipping window will want to act quickly, as the statues are fairly limited. Only 666 of the standard versions will be made available, with another 100 PureArts exclusive versions of the statue being produced. The PureArts exclusive version also includes a signed art print, which does sweeten the deal.

The Licker is one of the most iconic Resident Evil enemies in the franchise, so the monster certainly has a large number of fans that would love to add this to their collections. The high price tag will be a concern for many, but those with the extra cash to spend are certainly getting a lot of detail out of the bust.

The Resident Evil franchise itself is seeing something of a resurgence in popularity lately, with Resident Evil Village launching in just a few months. That, of course, follows Resident Evil 7, one of the most popular entries in the franchise to date. One can hope that enemies as iconic as the Licker are found in Resident Evil Village, but fans are just going to have to wait and see what the future holds.
