This past week Capcom made the announcement that it will be hosting a Resident Evil 8 showcase on January 21. The reveal prompted a wave of speculation regarding what Capcom would show at the event. Teasers featuring a giant vampire woman, leaks regarding Resident Evil 8 story spoilers, rumored release dates, and more have stirred up all manner of excitement. If one industry insider is to be believed, Resident Evil fans may receive everything they want and more.

Business analyst Roberto Serrano shared a list of what they believe to be shown during the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase on Twitter. Serrano doesn't provide context for their list, other than the insinuation that they know these things will be shared at the event. No source is provided for the list, either, so Resident Evil fans should maintain a healthy amount of skepticism. That said, if Serrano's list is accurate then there's a lot to look forward to.

To start, Serrano says that Capcom will debut a new Resident Evil Village gameplay demo, being run on PlayStation 5. This demo will all but certainly deliver on Capcom's teaser featuring a very tall woman shown ducking under a doorway and standing nefariously over the fallen player. A variety of other gameplay is also shown in the 30-second Resident Evil Village teaser, including brief action sequences and terrifying new enemies. Expect deeper introductions to that, too.

The rest of Serrano's list has more firm information about the game's release, rather than what's in the game itself. Serrano says that a release date for Resident Evil Village will be revealed, as well as pre-order information. Further, Capcom will reveal plans for a Resident Evil Saga multiplayer closed beta and a timed PlayStation-exclusive demo. A demo for Resident Evil Village has previously been rumored, but has yet to be officially announced by Capcom.

Much of what Serrano says will be shown during the upcoming Resident Evil Showcase has been rumored and speculated upon. It's entirely possible that Serrano has no insider information about the event, but rather is repeating information that he's heard elsewhere and feels confident in. It bears repeating that this information is unconfirmed and may not be accurate.

Luckily, Resident Evil fans won't have to wait long to find out what's accurate and what isn't. The Resident Evil Showcase is scheduled to take place on January 21 at 2:00 PM PT. The length of the event is confirmed to be around 20 minutes long and is certain to be packed with exciting Resident Evil news.
