In less than a month, the much-awaited Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City arrives in theaters. Fans of the game franchise are looking forward to this adaptation, as it promises to be the closest one yet to the origin story. Sony Pictures has now released two new featurettes to introduce fans to the live-action versions of Claire and Chris Redfield.

Portrayed by Kaya Scodelario and Robbie Amell respectively, the characters are from the first and second Resident Evil games, which are to date among some of the most popular installments in the Resident Evil franchise. Director Johannes Roberts and the two actors take viewers through the journey that the sibling-duo will go on in Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, and some of the struggles they face in the process.

Claire’s featurette was posted first by Sony on their social media channels, which reveals how the character had left Raccoon City because “she felt something was very wrong there.” She returns only to tell her brother, Chris, something very important about the city and the Umbrella Corporation. Of course, viewers will have to watch the film for the rest of the plot, but fans of the games will already know that a horde of monsters is waiting at the horizon.

Scodelario reveals that her character is “well-rounded” and isn’t just the kind to go into a scenario with guns blazing. That sounds similar to her game counterpart, with Claire Redfield always being the one looking for solutions to a problem. In Scodelario’s words, she is “rebellious and badass.”

The second featurette focuses on Chris and reveals more details about the virus that is infecting citizens of Raccoon City. As a part of the Raccoon Police Department, he is known as a “small-town hero.” But, the Umbrella Corporation crisis forces him to up his game and save the whole city. The featurette reveals new clips from the film and offers a look at some of the other monsters that will be making an appearance.

Amell talks about how the film is a close adaptation of the games. “It’s like I’m living in the video game and it’s really, really exciting,” he is heard saying. When the first trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City was released, fans of the game franchise were pleased to see the similarities between the scenes in the film and the Resident Evil games. It remains to be seen how true an adaptation it turns out to be.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City premieres in theaters on November 24, 2021.
