Steamforged Games launched the Kickstarter page for the Resident Evil board game yesterday and not only has the board game already been funded, but it's on track to surpass 1 million dollars. As it stands right now, the Kickstarter has over $950,000 funded against the original goal of $137,697, which is extremely impressive to say the least.

The board game itself features a number of creative elements, including the option to play as four different members of S.T.A.R.S. Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Rebecca Chambers, and Barry Burton are all playable characters that come with their own figurines. In addition, there are a number of enemy figurines based on classic Resident Evil enemy NPCs.

In any case, it's amazing to see just how much adulation there is for classic Resident Evil. It could be due to the series recent revitalization with games like Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village leaving strong impacts on the gaming community. Though, with all of Resident Evil's newfound success, it begs to question what the future of the franchise will be going forward.

There has been a cacophony of rumors saying that DLC for Resident Evil Village will be revealed on Halloween, but there's also a lot of other rumored Resident Evil projects that could be revealed in the coming months. For instance, the supposed remake of Resident Evil 4 could be unveiled soon given the recent release of the VR port of Resident Evil 4. With any luck, more information will be revealed in the coming months.
