25 years ago, Capcom released the first Resident Evil game, which defined the survival horror genre. Not only did Resident Evil introduce players to iconic video game characters such as Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Albert Wesker, but it was also heralded as a technological marvel with its 3D character models and pre-rendered backgrounds. Please note that this article will contain some SPOILERS for the Resident Evil franchise.

However, it is no secret that while the first Resident Evil was the beginning of what would become a worldwide phenomenon, the original game was also infamous for its cheesy dialogue and voice acting. Now, nearly three decades after its release, Pablo Kuntz, who provided the original voice work for Albert Wesker, is playing the game for the first time since its release in 1996 and re-enacts one of the iconic lines uttered by his character.

In a YouTube video posted on Pablo's channel, he and his son watched a clip from Resident Evil. The specific clip is taken towards the end of the game when Chris Redfield confronts Wesker for betraying S.T.A.R.S. and working as a double agent for the Umbrella Corporation. Fans who have played the original Resident Evil would be all too familiar with this scene, especially the part when Chris laughs at Wesker after unveiling the Tyrant, with Wesker uttering the line "Chris...stop it!"

Pablo admitted after watching the scene that "it was a bit cringe," especially the way he delivered the line. Nevertheless, Pablo isn't afraid to make fun of himself and goes on to re-enact the scene, complete with its campy delivery. It is worth remembering that while the original Resident Evil was a huge success for Capcom, not much is known about its voice actors and their live-action counterparts, especially since most of them have moved on to different lines of work. Given this, it is interesting to see Wesker's original voice actor watching scenes from the game for the first time while commenting on his experience recording the lines. Apart from the re-enactment video, Pablo and his son are currently making videos of them playing Resident Evil, which would make for an interesting watch for fans of the original game.

Although Wesker was eventually killed off in 2009's Resident Evil 5, his legacy can still be felt throughout the franchise. It is no secret that many regarded Wesker as one of the most iconic villains in the Resident Evil franchise, which is why it is fun to see the original voice actor experience the game for the first time. While Wesker is no longer alive in the video game franchise, fans will get to see him again played by actor Tom Hopper in the reboot film Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City.
