Fans have been waiting patiently for news on Resident Evil 8, and while Capcom still has yet to announce the game, there has been no shortage of rumors about what it will entail. The latest rumor may give Resident Evil 8 fans an idea of when to expect the highly-anticipated horror game to finally be revealed.
According to AestheticGamer, a leaker who has accurately leaked Resident Evil news in the past, they are "like 99% sure" that Resident Evil 8 will be revealed at the PS5 game reveal event. AestheticGamer noted that basically the entire Resident Evil franchise went on sale on June 4, the day that the PS5 reveal event was originally supposed to take place, including the biggest discount yet for Resident Evil 7.
It's possible that this is just a coincidence, but AestheticGamer's conclusion does make sense. The Resident Evil 8 announcement would no doubt drum up excitement for the survival-horror franchise, and Capcom would be able to take advantage of that by drastically lowering the prices on the other Resident Evil games. And if the rumors of Resident Evil 8 being a direct sequel to RE7, complete with protagonist Ethan Winters and the redesigned Chris Redfield, then it would make sense for Capcom to get more people to play RE7 in the meantime.
However, the PS5 game reveal event has been indefinitely delayed. Sony has promised that news on the PS5 game reveal event will come soon, but it has stopped short of providing specifics. PlayStation fans will need to stay tuned on that front, but in the meantime, there is another date coming up that Resident Evil fans will want to keep in mind.
Previously, the rumor was that the Resident Evil 8 reveal date would be June 10, as that date has been pointed out as significant to members of the Resident Evil Ambassador program. Perhaps this date will be for a different Resident Evil game, or maybe Capcom was planning on making another Resident Evil 8-related announcement on that day. Whatever the case may be, Resident Evil fans will definitely want to keep an eye out for more information.
In the meantime, Resident Evil 8 isn't the only horror game rumored for the PS5 game reveal event. It's also been heavily rumored that the Silent Hill PS5 reboot will be at the event as well. Having both Resident Evil and Silent Hill at the PS5 reveal event would be huge for fans of the horror genre, so they should be sure to tune in just in case.
