Last week, the video game industry gathered to celebrate this year's The Game Awards, which handed out accolades to some of the biggest games released this year. Although Ghost of Tsushima took home the fan-voted Player's Voice award, Naughty Dog's The Last of Us 2 won the coveted Game of The Year accolade. Aside from all the awards handed to several video games, The Game Awards also revealed trailers for upcoming games, including Dragon Age 4. Unfortunately for Resident Evil fans, Resident Evil 8 was a no-show at the awards ceremony.

Before the event took place, a rumor surfaced online claiming that Capcom will release a new trailer for Resident Evil 8, but unfortunately, no preview was revealed at the event. Now, fans of the survival-horror franchise are probably wondering when they'll hear more about the upcoming game, and while there is still no official word from Capcom, here is the likeliest date that a new trailer for Resident Evil 8 could be released.

When Will Capcom Release Resident Evil 8's Next Trailer?

most anticipated horror games 2021

Now that the end of the year is fast approaching, it is likely that the next Resident Evil 8 trailer won't come out until early 2021. Of course, Capcom can still pull out a surprise and release another trailer before the year ends. Still, given that the developer has been silent for the past few weeks since the last preview of the game, it is likely that there won't be any previews for Resident Evil 8 this December.

Those wondering when exactly in 2021 should players expect to hear from Capcom again, it is probable that it will be sometime in January or February 2021, especially since Resident Evil 8 itself is scheduled to release next year. In previous trailers, Capcom has given players a glimpse of the village that Resident Evil 8 will take place in. Players have already seen some of the enemies that they will encounter in the game, alongside the appearance of Ethan Winters and Chris Redfield. For the next trailer, Capcom will likely offer clues about the game's story, the other characters involved in the game, and the major organization that will play the villain. Additionally, players should expect an in-depth preview of Resident Evil 8's gameplay, the various weapons that players will be able to use, and other enemies that were never seen in previous trailers.

All Resident Evil 8 Trailers Released So Far

At the moment, Capcom has released two trailers for Resident Evil 8 alongside two developer insights videos that revealed some of the key concepts that went into the creation of the game. In the debut trailer, players were given a glimpse of some of the major characters appearing in the game, including Ethan Winters and Chris Redfield. Interestingly enough, Chris doesn't appear to be his usual self, sparking rumors that Resident Evil's main protagonist may play as the villain in the upcoming installment. Additionally, the trailer also contained the phrase, "His story comes to a close," which heavily suggests that Resident Evil 8 could be the final game for either Ethan or Chris.

The second trailer for Resident Evil 8 was released back in September, showing creepier footage of the game and its village location. The preview also revealed some of the enemies that players should expect to see. Unfortunately, this preview did not reveal anything in terms of gameplay, but it did give players a preview of Resident Evil 8's overall feel. Lastly, a cryptic photo released on Steam fueled rumors of Chris Redfield's fate in Resident Evil 8. Half of Chris's face resembles that of a werewolf in the photo, which could be a clue that the character is likely infected in the upcoming game. At the moment, Capcom did not comment on the true nature of the latest artwork of Chirs, but it is expected that some of the questions of fans will be answered in the next trailer of Resident Evil 8.
