After a brief silence, it seems Capcom is ready to talk about its highly anticipated title, Resident Evil 8. Producer Peter Fabiano outlined what Resident Evil 8 will be and what the dedicated fans could expect when the game drops next year.

This new update comes in the wake of a shocking Resident Evil 8 leak that occurred earlier this week, spoiling key story segments while also showing some developmental build of the game. Resident Evil 8 isn't the only Resident Evil game that had itself spoiled,  the breach in security that happened a few weeks ago also leaked Capcom's roadmap until 2024, which featured a multitude of unannounced Resident Evil titles, including Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Eager fans who don't want to dive into the leaks should be excited about what Fabiano had to say about the game. Speaking to IGN, he said Resident Evil 8 is the "accumulation" of all the best elements of Resident Evil Games from the last 25 years, whether it be the action-packed moments that plagued the latter mainline entries or the more survival horror aspects from the prior games and the recent remakes. Fabiano also said that Resident Evil 8's story picks up from the events "that were set in motion" in Resident Evil 7. The game will also bring back the series' staple puzzles and mysteries that players can unravel.

Capcom has stated earlier that it's treating the game's snow caped village as a character of its own, hence the name Resident Evil Village. Fabiano reiterates saying that "fans will enjoy the game's desolate, snowy village," which will also introduce new enemies as seen in the reveal trailer. Since Resident Evil 8 is headed to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, Fabiano also talked about how the new systems and technologies have allowed the developers to craft the world that would immerse players in a way it wasn't possible before, further stating that Resident Evil 8 will be the "most pulse-pounding" Resident Evil game to date.

Popular Resident Evil insider, Dusk Golem, who claimed that the development of Resident Evil 8 started off as Resident Evil Revelations 3, also had similar thoughts on the game.  According to him, Resident Evil 8 is darker and more daring than any Resident Evil game that came beforehand, stating that fans should keep an "open mind" when it comes to this game. He further added that the game may not be what many people expect it to be, but it will be good.

Every mainline Resident Evil game has revolutionized the series, whether it be in a good way or bad, and it seems that Resident Evil 8 will be no different. Resident Evil 7 brought back the horror while introducing players to a first-person perspective. Resident Evil 8 seems to be following the footsteps of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7, both of which were a turning point for this beloved franchise.

Resident Evil 8 is in development for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
