Following Sony's digital event earlier today, the gaming community finally saw the long-awaited reveal of Resident Evil 8, and fans of the series are incredibly excited, to say the least. Though, obviously the reveal trailer was extremely cryptic and did not give too much away in terms of the story. Not to mention a lack of gameplay footage. However, more and more theories regarding the game have been revealed via leaks and according to one reliable leaker, the antagonist of Resident Evil 8 will be a familiar face.

Many details showcased in the trailer have aligned quite a lot with what has been previously leaked online. Most notably, the redesign of Chris Redfield was shown in the reveal trailer. Many people were irritated by Chris' design in Resident Evil 7, so it would seem that Capcom listened to those complaints and brought back the original design.

With all of this being said, Aesthetic Gamer on Twitter, the person behind various Resident Evil leaks, has now dropped another leak regarding the antagonist of Resident Evil 8. Aesthetic Gamer has now said that the antagonist of Resident Evil 8 will be Alex Wesker, who in turn will be aided by Daniel Fabron.

Alex Wesker and Daniel Fabron were both featured in Resident Evil Resistance and served as members of the original Umbrella Corporation. Now, in terms of how these two will serve as villains of Resident Evil 8, no one can really know for sure. However, it is possible that these two could be members of the Connections, the mysterious group that was featured at the end of Resident Evil 7.

In terms of how reliable of a source Aesthetic Gamer is, the user has successfully predicted many details officially featured in Resident Evil 8, including the setting of the story, the redesign of Chris Redfield, and bringing back Ethan Winters as the playable protagonist. Thus, if their word is any guide, it does seem rather likely that these two characters will see a return in Resident Evil 8. Though, to what capacity remains to be seen.

For what was shown off in the trailer and for how much Resident Evil 8 information has already been leaked, there is still so much information left unknown regarding this upcoming Resident Evil title. So many different plot threads were woven during the course of Resident Evil 7 and it seems rather hard to tell where the story will go from that point onward.

Resident Evil 8 is set to launch in 2021.
