Last month, Capcom announced the release of the long-awaited Not A Hero DLC expansion for Resident Evil 7, and that it would be joined by the new End of Zoe DLC. Since then, details on both expansions have been hard to come by, but Capcom has released a new trailer that gives fans a much better idea of what to expect from the DLC when it releases on December 12th. Please note that in order to discuss the DLC trailer, we have to venture into spoilers territory for the main game, so read on with caution.

The bulk of the trailer explores the "Redfield" tape, which offers a glimpse as to what Chris Redfield is up to after the events of Resident Evil 7. Once Ethan Winters has been safely secured, Chris takes a team of Umbrella operatives into the complicated tunnel system beneath the Baker family plantation, where they find an elaborate laboratory.

Of course, the lab isn't the only thing Chris and his team find underground. He soon becomes separated from his teammates and has to do what he can to stay alive, which includes straight-up punching Molded monsters in the face, a callback to Chris's absurd strength seen in games like Resident Evil 5. If the Molded weren't enough, though, Chris is also pursued by Lucas Baker, the last surviving member of the Baker family.

Or is he?

Those that watch the trailer will also get a tease of what to expect from the End of Zoe DLC, which wraps up another loose plot thread left over from Resident Evil 7. It reveals that the game's canonical ending is Ethan giving the serum to Mia instead of Zoe, and Zoe becoming crystallized while wandering aimlessly in the swamp. However, she is found by a mysterious older man known only as "Joe" who describes her as "family," teasing that there is at least one more Baker family member that hasn't been revealed before.

When the End of Zoe expansion was announced, many assumed that meant they would take control of Zoe directly, but now it appears as though this new Baker family member is the expansion's playable character. It seems the plot will revolve around him protecting Zoe and trying to take her to safety, but that's just speculation at this time, and Capcom could be purposefully misleading fans with this new trailer.

Fans will find out all there is to know about the End of Zoe and Not A Hero DLC expansions when they release on December 12th, alongside the game's Gold Edition that comes with all the DLC. In the meantime, fans should keep an eye out for more trailers or additional information from Capcom between now and the DLCs' release in a couple of months.

Resident Evil 7 is available now for PC, PS4, PlayStation VR, and Xbox One.
