Resident Evil 7 proved to be a radical departure from the previous instalments of the well-loved survival horror franchise. Fans of the earlier games were therefore excited to learn more about the Resident Evil 7: Not a Hero DLC, which puts the player into the shoes of long-standing series protagonist Chris Redfield. Now, Capcom has given a quick look at the DLC in action courtesy of a gameplay trailer.

This DLC pack for Resident Evil 7, which releases on December 12, 2017, certainly seems to point at a much more combat-focused experience. After all, Chris Redfield will most likely be much better prepared for any eventualities than Ethan Winters of the core game, and the gameplay trailer itself certainly seems to suggest that a larger arsenal will be at the user's disposal.

Of course, that's not to say that Chris Redfield will have it easy, taking on more of the Molded, including variations on those that have already been seen. At the very least it looks like players will have something of a friendly voice in their ear, though. Those interested in seeing the full gameplay trailer can do so below.

Those who played the original may be a little surprised to see what appears to be a heavier focus on action here. After all, the main story of Resident Evil 7, and much of the other free DLC, has very much had a focus on tension and vulnerability. However, it remains to be seen as to whether this DLC manages to stay consistent with the tone of Resident Evil 7 as a whole.

This trailer release follows hot on the heels of a number of Not a Hero DLC screenshots, which gave gamers a look at the game's HUD as well as confirming that the Resident Evil melee finisher was making a return. This will certainly make close-quarters fighting a little bit less of a strain on the player in comparison to Resident Evil 7.

Although Not a Hero is widely anticipated by fans, it will not be the end of the game's DLC as a whole. Resident Evil 7 will also see the End of Zoe DLC, although it's worth noting that this particular piece of additional content will not be released for free and will instead come at an additional cost unless the player holds a Season Pass. Hopefully, both it and Not a Hero will gain the same level of acclaim as the core game.
