Resident Evil 6 Game Length

It's about time that Capcom reminded everyone that they are a force to be reckoned with outside of the fighting game genre. With the company's upcoming fantasy RPG Dragon's Dogma finally given a release date of May 2012, they've also included a sweet deal for those who purchase a copy. Owners won't just be receiving one of the developer's largest projects to date with Dragon's Dogma, but a download code for a playable demo of Resident Evil 6 arriving in July.

Fans didn't need any more reasons to get behind Dogma, since the gameplay videos and trailers previously shown are enough to get some thinking that Skyrim could have some eastern competition. With a development team that has cut its teeth on franchises like Devil May Cry and past Resident Evil games to boot, it's certainly worth more attention than its cryptic name might suggest.

Capcom has finally set a date in stone, with Dragon's Dogma confirmed to be arriving on the Xbox 360 and PS3 in North America on May 22, 2012. Along with retail copies of the game, owners will be granted a code to download a demo for Resident Evil 6 - of course, it's not all good news. The demo will be available for Xbox 360 owners starting a month and a half later on July 3, while PlayStation 3 owners will have to wait until September 4.

Console exclusives and advanced access enrage as many gamers as it delights, so there's no need to go into detail on the ramifications of Microsoft's early window. Either way fans are likely going to be marking their calendars since the RE6 debut trailer wowed fans and the uninitiated alike. The demo will still be preceding the game by over two months on PS3, so it's not a total loss.

Dragons Dogma Release Date May

The match of fantasy RPG with survival-horror may seem like an odd pairing for an exclusive deal, but the two games are certainly equally as important to Capcom in the coming year. Dragon's Dogma is hopefully going to make quite a statement for Capcom's open world abilities, and now it's clear that RE6 is going to be the biggest in the series as well. Whether these games will help grab onto mainstream audiences remains to be seen, but Skyrim showed just how much fantasy RPG has broken out of its niche, so anything's possible.

What's your take? Will you be more willing to take a closer look at Dragon's Dogma now that you know how important it is to Capcom, or is that too high a price to pay for an RE demo? Leave us your thoughts in the comments.

Dragon's Dogma will be released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on May 22, 2012. The Resident Evil 6 demo will be available to owners on July 3 for Xbox 360, and September 4 for PS3.
