Resident Evil 4 is one of the most beloved entries in the series, with over 11 million copies sold, and it is currently the highest-rated game in the series. Over the years, Resident Evil 4 has become one of the most ported games of its time, with the game being re-released on every console generation since its original 2005 release along with mobile ports.

So it is not surprising that Resident Evil 4 was brought into virtual reality following the success of Resident Evil 7 VR. Resident Evil 4 VR was released in October 2021 after having been announced earlier this year, allowing players to control Leon Kennedy through more immersive actions than ever before.

When Resident Evil 4 VR was released many fans noted the lack of The Mercenaries and Ada's Separate Ways modes that are usually unlocked following the completion of the game. However, a now unlisted video on the Oculus YouTube channel has revealed that The Mercenaries will be coming to Resident Evil 4 VR in Q2 2022.

The Mercenaries is a popular mode that has made appearances in many entries in the series, with the mode first being included in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. In The Mercenaries, players defeat waves of enemies in an arcade-style mode that takes place in different locations from the game and allows the player to take control of different characters that appeared in the story.

In Resident Evil 4's The Mercenaries, players are able to fight across four stages from the main game while taking control of Leon Kennedy, Ada Wong, Jack Krauser, Albert Wesker, and HUNK. The Mercenaries is notable for including the Handcannon weapon, the Giant Chainsaw Man enemy, and HUNK as a playable character, marking one of the only times that the Umbrella hired mercenary is playable in a Resident Evil game.

With the announcement video being accidentally revealed early, it is likely that the mode will be officially revealed by Oculus very soon, however, there was no mention of Separate Ways being added to the game. Separate Ways sees the player take control of Ada and see the gameplay through her eyes, as well as helping to unlock more files to further expand Resident Evil 4's story. With The Mercenaries not being released until Q2 2022, it is possible that Separate Ways could be released at a later date, but neither Oculus nor Capcom has hinted at this so far.

Resident Evil 4 VR is available now on Oculus Quest 2.
