Resident Evil 4 is considered by many to be one of the greatest video games ever created. With the introduction of a fixed camera perspective, reworked camera controls, new enemy types, and an inventive setting that took Resident Evil away from Raccoon City and the Spencer Mansion, the fourth installment is one of the most influential survival horror games to ever exist. Now, it seems someone has given the village setting a fresh coat of paint.

One thing that has had many people excited for the last several months is the prospect of a Resident Evil 4 remake. Given the successful track record of all the previous remakes of the classic Resident Evil games and considering Resident Evil 4's popularity and influence, it feels like a match made in heaven. However, one user may have just given Capcom some inspiration in terms of how the remake could look.

One talented user by the name of Mojo Swoptops has managed to recreate the village from the opening of Resident Evil 4 using the map builder from Far Cry 5, of all things. In the video the user posted, Mojo takes viewers through the process step-by-step and shows how they were able to recreate the iconic environment. According to Mojo, the recreation took nearly four hours to complete, but they were able to condense it down into a five minute video.

It's surprising that they managed to achieve this using the map builder from Far Cry 5. It's certainly more commonplace to hear people recreating settings or environments using more accessible and popular sandbox games like Minecraft or Garry's Mod. Thus, the fact that this was done using a map builder from a game that is nearly three years old is pretty impressive, all things considered.

What's unfortunate is that the final product is ultimately just a dynamically animated shot of the village. Mojo didn't actually post any footage of them walking through the map they had created. It would have been incredibly refreshing to be able to engage with all of the details of Resident Evil 4's village in first-person. Not too dissimilar to how normal gameplay works in Resident Evil 7.

Given how vibrant and colorful this recreation looks, it makes one wonder how good the remake of Resident Evil 4 will look. The remakes Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 are visually and technically stunning and add so much to the experience as a result. Considering how old Resident Evil 4 has become and how arguably dated even the HD ports on various platforms look, it will be exciting to see what the rumored remake will look like.

The remake of Resident Evil 4 is allegedly in development.
