Video game retailers have been spotted advertising the upcoming Resident Evil 4 remake for Xbox One, even though the highly-anticipated survival-horror game has not actually been announced for the platform. When Capcom first announced the Resident Evil 4 remake, it was said to be a next-gen only release on consoles, aiming to launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Since then, however, Capcom has expanded the Resident Evil 4 remake's horizons to include PlayStation 4.

When Capcom confirmed that the Resident Evil 4 remake would be coming to PS4, it generated a mixed response from the community. On one hand, those that have yet to upgrade to a PS5 were happy that they would be able to play Resident Evil 4 remake without having to purchase a new console. On the other hand, some were disappointed that this would make the Resident Evil 4 remake yet another cross-gen release, meaning it wouldn't take full advantage of the new hardware. Xbox gamers, meanwhile, have just been confused as to why the Resident Evil 4 remake is coming to PS4, yet an Xbox One version of the game hasn't been announced.

Even though Capcom is moving forward with a PS4 version of the Resident Evil 4 remake, it's decided, for one reason or another, not to port the game to Xbox One. Or at least, it hasn't officially announced an Xbox One version of the game at the time of this writing. This hasn't stopped various video game retailers from advertising an Xbox One version of the game, likely coming to the conclusion that such a product is on the way considering the PS4 release. One such display of Resident Evil 4 remake Xbox One advertisements was spotted by Reddit user ARKGENIUS09.

While Capcom has not officially announced an Xbox One version of the Resident Evil 4 remake, it doesn't mean that one won't materialize at some point down the line. In fact, rumors have claimed that an Xbox One version of the Resident Evil 4 remake exists, though if true, one has to wonder why it hasn't been announced yet. It's a strange situation, and unfortunately, there are no concrete answers at this time.

If Capcom is planning on releasing an Xbox One version of the Resident Evil 4 remake, it's running out of time to make the announcement. The Resident Evil 4 remake release date is right around the corner, and so for now, Xbox gamers should plan on only being able to play it on Xbox Series X and S consoles.

Resident Evil 4 launches March 24 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
