As pointed out by Reddit user Kicka14, the PlayStation Store has updated its Resident Evil 4 remake page to include an interesting blurb hinting at surprising story developments. According to the new blurb, the Resident Evil 4 remake will feature a "reimagined storyline that may surprise even hardened fans of the original game." Fans have already been made aware of some Resident Evil 4 remake story changes. For example, the dog that Leon can save in the original Resident Evil 4 is dead in the remake. The first encounter Leon has with an infected villager at the beginning plays out differently as well. There will certainly be other changes, but it's unclear how many of the differences will be revealed to fans ahead of the game's release.

The Resident Evil 4 remake release date is currently scheduled for late March, so fans only have to wait a couple more months to play the game for themselves. We know that the Resident Evil 4 remake is bringing back the island and will have players exploring all the same areas as the original, but what happens in those locations and where the plot ultimately ends up could very well be different from what fans remember. Then again, it's possible the story changes will be more subtle and won't have as big of an impact as some fans may be hoping.

Between this tease and rumors that Wesker will have an expanded role in the Resident Evil 4 remake, it seems fans of Capcom's survival-horror franchise have plenty reason to be excited to see what's in store. Luckily, the wait to find out is nearly at an end.

Resident Evil 4 launches March 24 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
