The Resident Evil 4 remake trailer shows that the game is going for a darker tone than the original. While the original version of Resident Evil 4 still had horror elements, it was cheesy, even for Resident Evil standards, and had a more action-oriented approach. Based on what's shown in the Resident Evil 4 remake trailer, the new version of the game will be scarier, though we need to see more to be sure.

The trailer shows Resident Evil 4 protagonist Leon S. Kennedy sent out to rescue the president's daughter, Ashley, who has gone missing in Europe. During his search, Leon winds up in a dangerous village populated by disturbed individuals who have been infected by Las Plagas. Leon will find himself at odds with these villagers and their leaders, with the trailer offering a brief look at who appears to be Bitores Mendez, also known as "The Big Cheese."

Besides Leon, Ashley, and Mendez, the Resident Evil 4 remake trailer offers fans a look at some of the other returning cast members. Notably, this includes Ada Wong, who starred in special side content in the original RE4. It will be interesting to see if Ada's role in the Resident Evil 4 remake; fans will have to wait for Capcom to share more information to find out.

The Resident Evil 4 remake trailer confirms that some of the most memorable moments from the original game will be back in the remake, including the encounter on the lake, and the iconic village fight from the beginning of the game. With a release date in sight, Resident Evil fans can expect to learn more about the game in the months leading up to its release.

Resident Evil 4 will launch March 24, 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
