Resident Evil 4, the long-awaited remake of the cult classic survival-shooter game, was finally released today, however, the PlayStation 5 version of the game suffers from an irritating flickering screen issue. While the Resident Evil 4 remake has already received stellar reviews from various gaming outlets, the game is not without its faults. Capcom has confirmed the flickering screen issue's existence while advising gamers to change some of their display settings until a patch that completely solves this flaw arrives.

For quite some time, many fans of the survival-horror genre have been asking for a remake of the original Resident Evil 4. After Capcom released remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, it was only a matter of time before Resident Evil 4 would get the same treatment. Featuring modern graphics and controls, the Resident Evil 4 remake has already broken Steam records. Sadly, it seems that the game’s launch is a rocky one as multiple players are encountering several glitches.

Capcom revealed that the strange flickering is related to some of Resident Evil 4’s graphical options. The Resident Evil team suggested that players who are encountering the flashing lights should first attempt to save and restart their game to see if that fixes the glitch. If the issue still persists, gamers are advised to change the Depth of Field option from the Display tab to Off, as well as the Motion Blur option from the Camera tab to On.

Unfortunately, this is not the only technical problem the Resident Evil 4 remake suffers from, as numerous players have reported several other bugs, such as low-resolution textures, pixelated rain, and blurry cutscenes on the console versions of the game. Some Xbox gamers are also claiming that the game has severe deadzone issues, which cause the aiming to feel sloppy and imprecise. Hopefully, Capcom will take note and be quick to fix these bugs.

Glitches and bugs aside, fans of Resident Evil 4 will be happy to hear that the game will soon get a free update featuring the return of the beloved Mercenaries mode. In the original game, players had to choose one character and get as many points as they could by defeating as many enemies as possible, until a rescue helicopter landed. While the Mercenaries mode will certainly be updated and revamped for modern audiences, it remains to be seen what new features it will include.

Resident Evil 4 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
