Insiders have been teasing a full-blown Resident Evil 4 remake for quite some time, and while Capcom hasn't actually announced the project yet, the ransomware leak pretty much let the cat out of the bag. Details on what exactly the Resident Evil 4 remake will entail have been hard to come by with Capcom keeping an otherwise tight lid on the game, but a new report from a reputable insider sheds some light on what fans can expect.

Imran Khan of Fanbyte has published a new report on the Resident Evil 4 remake, offering details on what they know about the project. According to the report, the Resident Evil 4 remake will be making some big changes, taking inspiration from the RE4 betas and looking to be "spookier," with the iconic village scene from the beginning of the game now said to be taking place at nighttime. For those unfamiliar with Resident Evil 4's development, the team at Capcom created a number of beta versions that were eventually discarded, including some that featured more supernatural threats and a "hook man."

Other changes will involve Resident Evil 4's side content, specifically the Ada Wong campaigns Assignment: Ada and Separate Ways. Fans can expect the Assignment: Ada and Separate Ways side content from Resident Evil 4 to get combined into a single package with the remake, assuming that the report is accurate, and for other side characters to be more fleshed-out.

The report also details some of the behind-the-scenes information on the Resident Evil 4 remake, addressing reports that RE4 remake development was having some difficulty. If the report is to be believed, the Resident Evil 4 remake was being developed by M-Two, the internal studio responsible for the Resident Evil 3 remake, but plans changed after RE3 remake reviews were weaker than expected. There were also plans to have legendary developer Shinji Mikami, the director of the original Resident Evil 4, join the project, but Mikami is said to have declined due to his responsibilities at Tango Gameworks.

This report is further proof that the rumored Resident Evil 4 remake exists, but the question is when exactly fans will be able to see the game for themselves. Capcom is reportedly planning to reveal the Resident Evil 4 remake at some point in 2022, presumably for a 2023 release. Whether or not that comes to pass remains to be seen, but Resident Evil fans should keep an eye out for more information on that front.

The Resident Evil 4 remake is rumored to be in development.
