While the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4 will be a modern retelling of the original, Capcom is implementing changes to keep fans on their toes, which includes bringing back enemies cut from the 2005 release. Helping to define the survival horror genre, the first Resident Evil installment had a huge impact on the industry, paving the way for other titles such as Silent Hill, which also helped shift the dynamics of what was possible in a scary game. While it's already pretty hyped up, the Resident Evil 4 remake won't have much competition, what with delays of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Frictional's Amnesia: The Bunker being pushed back, leaving March free for Capcom to stretch its metaphorical legs. However, given that the remake is already one of the most anticipated games of 2023, it's unlikely to disappear into obscurity no matter what other releases are due around the same period. In the meantime, there have been further developments on what fans can expect from the game.RELATED: New Resident Evil 4 Remake Screenshots EmergeAs reported by The Gamer, Twitter user and known leaker AestheticGamer1 noticed that the remake of Resident Evil 4 will be introducing some enemies that seem to have been based on scrapped content from the original RE4. This information comes from Game Informer's recent coverage of the game in which a female Zealot and one antagonist called the "Minitour" were revealed, which AestheticGamer1 says are realizations of enemies that didn't make it into the 2005 release. The Twitter user goes on to mention a few more that were cut from the original game and theorizes on which may make an appearance in the remake.

One such example is the Hook Man from an early build of Resident Evil 4. A lot of fans of the series are already aware of this enemy, who was more of a spectral being that would have had the ability to emerge from paintings to attack Leon. The fact that they were ghostly gave this early iteration of the game more of a paranormal vibe than what fans were treated to in the final release. Unfortunately, there's no certainty that Hook Man will be in the remake, but fans can always hope.

With this version of Resident Evil 4 getting rid of QTEs, adding in side quests, and adding some story surprises, Capcom is evidently doing all it can to not just bring the 18-year-old survival horror game back to life, but to make it feel fresh. With the success of the RE2 and RE3 remakes, it's almost certain that this next remake will be just as well received, especially given that the original RE4 is considered one of the best in the series.

Resident Evil 4 releases on March 24 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
