Those who are finding themselves champing at the bit in anticipation of the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4 can at least drink in some new Chapter 5 gameplay footage that has been doing the rounds recently. With the success of the Dead Space remake, the industry is by no means done reviving classic horror games. With RE4 and Bloober's take on the iconic Silent Hill 2 on the way, fans of games that made an impact on horror the first time round have much to look forward to.

Over the years, there have been a lot of games in Capcom's flagship survival series, with the fourth entry regarded by many as one of the best Resident Evil games. Given such high praise, it's hardly surprising that so many are looking forward to the remake. There isn't too long to wait now, all being well, but in the meantime, some more footage has emerged which will surely whet the appetites of fans.

The video comes courtesy of Game Informer and shows off around 12 minutes from the remake of Resident Evil 4. Specifically, it gives a taste of Chapter 5, which is the moment several hours in where Leon Kennedy finds Ashley. Viewers can see encounters with the villagers at night during this segment, as well as the famous cabin shootout with Carlos. As with previous teasers and images, this new footage demonstrates the much darker and moodier tone when compared to the original 2005 release. Anyone who's eagerly awaiting this remake will likely get a kick out of what's been shown off in this video.

There are a lot of classic sequences fans are anticipating for the Resident Evil 4 remake, including the one in the Game Informer clip. While this modern reimagining of the influential RE game will be a chance for older fans to relive the experience in a more up-to-date release, it will also let newcomers see what everyone loved about the original release.

But it's not just a retelling of an older game. Capcom is said to be adding enemies that were cut from the original Resident Evil 4, as well as implementing some story surprises and side quests. All in all, it sounds like the developer knows what its audience wants, which goes beyond a current-gen retread of a retro title, even one as lauded as RE4. There's bound to be enough familiarity in the remake, but also enough twists and turns to keep it feeling fresh and new.

Resident Evil 4 releases on March 24 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
