Cured of the Las Plagas parasite, Leon and Ashley must escape the Iluminados island in order to have any hope of stopping Osmund Saddler’s plans of world domination. In the final chapter of Resident Evil 4, players must confront Saddler himself and make a quick getaway to bring the game to its explosive conclusion.
This guide will cover the final events of Resident Evil 4 so players aren’t lost at sea when it comes to overcoming the game’s last challenges.
Sanctuary
From Luis’ Laboratory, leave through the double doors. Outside, boost Ashley up to a ladder on the left and climb up, following the walkway around to a door leading to the upper floor of the Sanctuary. Head right and drop down, winding around the rubble and killing the camouflaged Novistador along the path and climbing back up to the other side.
Pass through the doors here and vault over a low wall, killing some more Novistadores and passing under a fallen column. Up ahead and to the left is another save room where Leon can trade with the Merchant for the final time in Resident Evil 4. Exit out of the save room and head towards the cliff where Leon can spot Ada with his binoculars. Take the elevator to the left down to begin a cutscene.
Loading Dock
The end of the cutscene will start a fight against the mastermind of the Las Plagas corruption and the kidnapping of Ashley Graham, Osmund Saddler. Turning into a classic Resident Evil boss, this many-eyed beast will launch Leon off a platform, separating him from Ada. Move immediately from Leon’s landing zone to avoid being crushed and shoot the nearby explosive barrel to deal some quick damage to Saddler.
Shooting his eyes when an opening presents itself, run from Saddler as he monologues, dropping down to the platform below and evading his attacks. When enough distance is gained, Saddler will spew black acid that Leon must crouch under to avoid. Once the eyeballs on his limbs have been dealt with, Saddler will be stunned, allowing for a melee attack from RE4's Leon.
After dealing enough damage, Saddler will retreat to the top of a tower and call upon a hoard of Novistadores to attack Leon. Luckily, these variants can be taken out quite quickly, so keep moving around the arena and kill them as Saddler pursues.
Occasionally, Saddler’s jumps will destroy part of the walkways, so be sure to adjust Leon’s pathing accordingly. To circumvent this, Leon can use buttons to create temporary bridges.
After exploding enough eyes, Saddler will fall from the platform and attack Leon. Now a writhing mass of tentacles, Leon must attack the central embryo with enough firepower to destroy it. With Saddler down, a cutscene will play as Ada and Leon go their separate ways.
Underground Passage
With Saddler defeated, in Resident Evil fashion, Ashley and Leon are on a timer to escape before the island explodes. At the bottom of the elevator is a final typewriter and only one way out. With two minutes on the clock, keep running forward, following the cave system until a rock fall causes a collapse.
Jump over the gap and press forward through the door ahead, where a Ganado will try his luck and grapple Leon. Push him off and run past the Ganados writhing on the floor through a door on the far side of the room.
Up ahead, head down the stairs, and push a fallen console out of the way. Keep running down the stairs and use the key Ada gave Leon on the Water Scooter.
On the scooter, hold the accelerate key as the pair head down a sewer tunnel, following the cave system around to the right and through an archway, again, on the right. Avoiding the boxes up ahead, take the leftmost path and then the rightmost, heading past the collapsing facility and over a ramp. Avoiding more debris, stick to the right, then chart left past the crumbling cave. Slalom past some more falling rocks and shoot off another ramp.
Hang left at the bottom, then head straight for the ramp at the far end of the cavern. Ignoring more collapsing rocks, go dead ahead, squeezing past the narrow waterways and up another small ramp. At the bottom, hang left past another large rock and shoot straight for the sunlight to bring an end to Resident Evil 4.
