The Resident Evil series has long been one of the most beloved gaming franchises in the horror genre. Though Resident Evil 7 is the best-selling entry in the series, many veteran fans consider Resident Evil 4 to be the best entry overall, for a variety of different reasons.

With multiple leaks indicating that Capcom has active plans to remake Resident Evil 4, there’s a tremendous amount of speculation on how a Resident Evil 4 remake will take shape. Following the aftermath of Capcom’s massive leak, new assets have come to light that could very well be from early stages of Resident Evil 4 Remake’s development.

It’s undoubtedly been a rough few weeks for Capcom. For those who may have missed the news, Capcom recently had a massive internal leak thanks to a hacker group known as Ragnar Locker. The most eye-catching information brought to light by the leak was a list that's supposedly Capcom’s release schedule for the next four years or so. Within that list was a game that fans long-suspected was in development or at least was in the planning stages: Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Now, it seems that even more information about Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake may be surfacing as the aftermath of the massive leak plays out. Apparently, potential assets from Resident Evil 4 Remake have made their way onto the internet thanks to Ragnar Locker. The assets, which are viewable on Imgur, show over 80 sets of models, textures, and concept photographs for potential assets that will be used in the game. While the assets have obviously not officially been labeled or attached to Resident Evil 4 Remake, nearly all of the models fit the original game’s aesthetic, theme, and setting.

Among some of the various models include dozens of models for rustic farming equipment, pig troughs, and cleaned animal carcasses. Those who have played Resident Evil 4 know that many of the game’s locations and set-pieces take place in rural farming villages in Spain. Based off the amount of similarities between these leaked assets and Resident Evil 4’s setting, it should be safe to say that these assets are indeed from whatever potential build of Resident Evil 4 Remake that Capcom may be working on. Still, these assets really only show the basics of what the potential environments in the game may look like.

Capcom is certainly in a very interesting spot with regards to Resident Evil 4 Remake. Hardcore fans of the gaming industry know that Resident Evil 4 is likely on the table thanks to the recent leak. However, Capcom still has plenty of agency on where the company takes the direction for Resident Evil 4 Remake. Though, if these very early assets are anything to go off of, it seems like Capcom may be taking a fairly straightforward approach to Resident Evil 4 Remake as it did with previous Resident Evil remake titles.
