Footage and teasers are giving the impression that the remake of Resident Evil 4 will retain some of its more creepy elements, but one person decided that this wasn't enough and turned Leon Kennedy into a giant baby. It's an exciting time to be a fan of horror gaming, with the AAA and indie scenes unleashing some great scares. Whether it's the new Amnesia game or Bloober Team's reimagining of Silent Hill 2, there's something for everyone. However, RE4 is easily one of the most anticipated.

Some have been so excited about the full release that they haven't been able to resist modding the demo for Resident Evil 4. There have been mods that have extended the trial to make it pretty much endless, swapped out Leon's outfit to give him a classic RE look, and even one that replaces the Chainsaw Man with Shrek. But there is one tweak that is bound to curdle the blood of many players.

As spotted by The Gamer, Nexus Mods user JTeghius Kittius has released "Baby Strikes Back," a mod for the Resident Evil 4 remake demo that turns Leon into a giant baby. Replacing his standard head with that of an infant, it's no longer the Ganados that are the most threatening-looking thing in the game. The modder says this project was the result of thousands of "crazy people" downloading a similar mod for Resident Evil Village. It doesn't seem as though anything else has changed other than Leon's appearance, but a few choice images on the download page really show off how eerie he now looks.

Fortunately, not everything related to the game is downright terrifying. Capcom recently released the first episode of a Resident Evil 4 anime series, which turns the horror game into a cute animation. The episode takes place in a cartoony version of the opening village scene, even going as far as replacing the blood with rainbows. It's only a short piece, but it gives fans a little something before the title launches on March 24.

The reviews are looking great for the Resident Evil 4 remake, with high praise for it being able to keep the familiarity of the original 2005 release while also making it feel like a new game. There isn't long to wait now, and the hype is pretty tremendous. How well it will be received when it does launch cannot be said at this stage, but it's looking like it's going to be a winner, especially among the RE community.

Resident Evil 4 releases on March 24, 2023, for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
