While only a few days remain until the Resident Evil 4 remake is released, a fan has created a custom-themed Xbox wireless controller to mark the occasion. The fan then posted their work on social media, and other Resident Evil 4 fans praised the artist for their creativity amid the hype for the remake's release.

Initially released in January 2005 for the Nintendo GameCube, Resident Evil 4 remains one of the most highly-rated entries in the Resident Evil series and the horror game genre in general. At the time of writing, the Resident Evil 4 remake is receiving rave reviews across the video game industry for its modernization of the controls while keeping within the original game's spirit. With Capcom once again utilizing the RE Engine to great effect, as it did with other recent releases, excitement for the Resident Evil 4 remake has permeated social media. As a result, one fan sought to build upon the hype with their latest creation.

On Reddit, a user named GriftyGamerGuy posted their latest work on the r/Xbox subreddit. Known for his previous work on controllers modeled after The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, GriftyGamerGuy posted a picture of a custom-made Xbox wireless controller, with different shades of red being the main color palette of choice for his Resident Evil 4 controller. With the face buttons, control sticks, D-Pad, and middle buttons remaining the same as a base Xbox controller, GriftyGamerGuy replaced the front faceplate with his handiwork. In the center of the controller, the insignia of Los Iluminados, the cult behind the events of Resident Evil 4, is outlined in a lighter shade of red.

Appearing on the left-hand grip is a silhouette of a mysterious figure wielding a chainsaw, which is a direct reference to the fan-favorite European box art of the original Resident Evil 4. Finally, the right-hand grip is adorned with the number 4 logo from the game's cover. GriftyGamerGuy's post received nearly 700 upvotes on r/Xbox in just over a day. Resident Evil fans praised GriftyGamerGuy for his work, and asked what materials he used to finish the project. In a follow-up comment, GriftyGamerGuy stated that he used 2K acrylic urethane to seal it before installing it back onto the controller.

Gamers that are still on the fence about buying the Resident Evil 4 remake right away will have a time-limited window to pre-order the Steam version game for a cheaper price. Between the work of fan artists, and the glowing reviews the game is getting, fans of Resident Evil 4 have plenty to get excited about as March comes to a close.
