Fans of the original Resident Evil 4 may be pleased to learn that datamined evidence points to the return of a fan-favorite story mode coming to the recently-released remake. While Resident Evil 4 has already been well-received, fans of the series lamented the lack of certain modes in the game. However, it seems that Capcom may amend the issue over time.Currently, the Resident Evil 4 remake is missing a few things and modes that were available in the original release. For example, the timed combat mode, The Mercenaries, isn't available to play, nor are Ada Wong's side campaigns, Separate Ways and Assignment: Ada. Capcom has already revealed that The Mercenaries will be added to Resident Evil 4 in the near future, but has remained quiet about Ada's story modes.RELATED: Resident Evil 4 Remake Comparison Video Reveals How the Game Runs on PS5 and Xbox Series X/SNow, datamined information has come to light that strongly suggests that Ada Wong's Separate Ways campaign is in the works. Data miner Gosetsu shared the information with the web, revealing that they had discovered a series of folders in the PC version of the files. These folders include "Chainsaw," "Mercenaries," and "Another Order." "Chainsaw" likely refers to the demo of the same name that was released prior to the game's launch, and Mercenaries is quite obvious. However, Another Order is what points to Ada's campaign.

For those who may not have been aware, the Separate Ways campaign from Capcom's 2005 Resident Evil 4 was originally titled "The Another Order." While there's a slim chance that the folder may be left in the game's files following a cancelation of the mode, it's fairly unlikely. Capcom seems to be well aware of the legendary status of the original Resident Evil 4, and has carefully crafted the remake to meet fans' expectations.

Even if Capcom had been previously unaware of the popularity of the extra modes in Resident Evil 4, it would have recently gotten a wake-up call. The VR version of Resident Evil 4 also shipped without Mercenaries, and fans were vocal about missing the mode. It was later brought back as DLC. On the other hand, though, Ada's campaigns were never brought to the Meta Quest 2 version of Resident Evil 4. That may have ultimately been a decision that Meta and Armature Studio made, though.

Ada Wong has been a mysterious character throughout the franchise, with the original side stories in Resident Evil 4 serving as a rare opportunity to get a deeper glimpse into her character. With any luck, these files indicate that Capcom will be giving players another chance to play as the elegant spy in the near future.

Resident Evil 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
