Just a few months after its initial release, Resident Evil 3 is finally getting paid downloadable content. Fans of the multiplayer mode Resistance may have already had free updates but the new paid DLC will allow players to change up the look of the Resistance cast this August, while campaign fans have something a little less exciting to look forward to.

The DLC focuses on new outfits in the multiplayer mode based on the Resident Evil 2 remake. This means characters like January, Valarie, and Becca can wear Claire's red jacket and jeans from Resident Evil 2 remake while Martin, Tyrone, and Samuel can don the RPD officer gear that Leon also wears in the 2019 hit.

Fans of the single player story may be disappointed to hear that the DLC for the mode is simply an unlock everything code for weapons and items in the shop. Typically players would have to run through the game to earn points. The points earned could then be used to purchase unique weapons, gameplay modifications, and a new costume for Jill.

Though not exactly what fans may have been hoping for, it does line up with Capcom's earlier stance on the game, stating that the story was completed with no single player DLC planned for release. Though Resident Evil 3 was well received, one of the most common issues of the game was its length. The story, which was a remake of the original PS1 classic, missed come key areas within the original and even glossed over some classic locations.

One key complaint was the changes made to the main enemy of the game, Nemesis. In the original game, Jill was hunted by Nemesis for a large portion of her journey. Nemesis would stalk Jill and players would have to continuously choose to fight or flee. The remake, while providing moments of terror, sped through those moments and refocused Nemesis as a plot device rather than an ongoing threat to the gameplay. Some of those changes will tie in to the eventual Resident Evil 4 remake rumored to be in development.

Resident Evil 3 isn't the only Resident Evil game Capcom is focused on. This August more news is expected regarding Resident Evil 8 and if recent leaks turn out to be true, the game is sure to satisfy players looking for a new terrifying adventure. While Resident Evil 3 may only be receiving multiplayer DLC in the future, it won't be long until another entry is upon us.

Resident Evil 3 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
